Popular gadgets like Fitbit have helped the public gain more self-awareness than ever before. Consumers right now want more control and they want information that is easy to access. The emergence of technology companies for the first time focusing on healthcare is an important development. But the next logical step, Arnold explained, is that health profiles have to be created.
"The same way that Amazon has developed a retail profile; Facebook has developed a social profile and Linkedin has developed a business profile; Sharecare is going to be your health profile," Arnold said. "All your health needs are going to be all in one place – on your mobile phone."
"It's going to be preventative; it's going to be participatory; it's going to be personalized, and it's going to be led through privacy."
Smart phones these days are what Arnold called "digital allies" that marry everyday information with online technology. And while accessibility may be key, just as important, he stressed, is trust, security and privacy.
