The power of BlackBerry
on your computer and tablet
No wires, no saving to a cloud, no transferring between devices. It’s just there.
There are three ways to update your smartphone software if you are running BlackBerry® 7 OS or earlier.
In order to download software from this website, you must be using Firefox or Windows® Internet Explorer v5.5 or higher.
If you meet the browser requirements, check for a browser message on your screen prompting you to run an add-on. Once you do so, you should see a “Check for Updates” button here.
With your smartphone disconnected, click Check for Updates.
If you receive the message that no updates are available after clicking on the Check for updates button, you may still be able to find software for your smartphone by visiting the software download site for your carrier. Find the software download site for your carrier.
When prompted, save the plug-in.
After the plug-in is downloaded, open it and click Run to install the drivers.
When the application loader launches, connect your smartphone and select OK to start the update process.
To see if you have the most recent software, or if there are updates available,
connect your smartphone to your computer via USB and click the button below.
Please note: Until the update is complete, you will not be able to use your BlackBerry smartphone. Should you unplug or cancel the update process before completion, your smartphone may be unusable and you may need to restart the update process to regain use of your device.
You can use BlackBerry® Desktop Software to look for and install updates on your smartphone. To get started, simply connect your smartphone to your computer and open BlackBerry Desktop Software, then click Update.
You can update your BlackBerry smartphone OTA (over-the-air) without connecting to a computer. To get started, select the Options icon from the Home screen. Choose Device, then Software Updates and follow the instructions.1
